Jason Earley, originally from South Fulton, has joined the UTM staff as the new veteran services coordinator.
Earley, a retired captain in the U.S. Army, has 20 years of military experience and served as platoon leader, company executive officer, brigade logistics officer and company commander.
Earley managed a Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program as a military science professor at three different universities from 2016-2018 and most recently worked as an enrollment specialist for Golden Key Group Contracting at Murray State University.
He holds degrees from Columbia College in Missouri and Western Kentucky University.
He will work directly with UTMs student-veteran population to assist with the transition to college life. Earley is the primary resource for those needing assistance with government funding programs for veterans and dependents.
UTM is tied for first place among public Tennessee institutions on the list of “best universities for veterans in the south,” published Sept. 9 by U.S. News & World Report. UT Martin is tied for 16th-place on this list overall when both public and private regional institutions are considered. The university is also a previous recipient of the Tennessee Higher Education Commission’s Veteran Reconnect Grant and was named a Tennessee Veterans Education Transition Support Campus by THEC in 2017.
