Drake dazzles our ears with his sixth studio album “Certified Lover Boy.”
The album was released on Sept. 3, 2021 by OVO Sound and Republic Records. Its hour and a half mix of 21 songs delivers smooth, relaxing yet motivating music that makes for a solid album.
The album overall has a message that makes you want to push forward through the struggles of life as you listen to it. Once again, Drake has shown he is the master of opening albums. The first song of the album “Champagne Poetry” features angels singing in the background while he raps to create a great hook. The song is the build-up to the rest of the album, which will leave you with goosebumps. The album lets Drake battle-rap style shine through by taking you on a journey through his fame, ambition and insecurities. If you are looking for a good vibe album to listen to while doing homework, this is the album. But don’t worry, there is something for everyone on this album. The song “Knife Fight” will have you wanting to address opposition in an aggressive manner with its lines. “Love All,” featuring Jay Z, is the best song of the album that makes its listeners think. The best line of the song is “Only thing we respect is violence / Anything besides this, we playing violins.” The song makes you feel the lyrics throughout your whole heart and soul. A close follow up to it is “Fair Trade” with its motivational line “I’ve been losing friends and finding peace,” which makes you want to take the independent route and grind forward.
While this album is in classic Drake style and there’s nothing experimental happening, it puts out Rap Album of the Year vibes with its push-forward message. The music gets better as you listen to it. We all may have different backgrounds, but music is a language we all understand.
