‘Don’t Worry Darling’ is the new ‘it’ movie of 2022

Don’t Worry Darling is a highly anticipated psychological thriller of 2022 starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles as Alice and Jack Chambers, respectively. The film was strategically and perfectly directed by Olivia Wilde, who also plays the role of Bunny in the film.

The film takes place in a mysterious and utopian society, Victory, that is perfect in every way, or so it seems. When living in this society, the men leave for work every day to work at the “Victory Project,” while the women tend to their homes. Alice begins to grow cautious and worrisome over what seems like a life that everyone dreams of because out of the ordinary things start affecting her daily life. Seeing that Alice lives in a society where the men are in control, she must take it upon herself to dismantle the patriarchy of Victory and save what little life she has left. Pugh portrays Alice in such a way that it keeps you on the edge of your seat. The plot of the film keeps you theorizing what could happen next as you watch Alice’s life turn upside down as more and more secrets of Victory unfold.

One notable appearance in the film was from Chris Pine, who portrays Frank, the leader of Victory. While also seeming like a typical authority figure, his antagonist character holds the secrets to Victory that most members of the society are oblivious to. His character makes you question if Alice is right about her intuitions or if Frank has the members of Victory in his best interest.

While I truly loved watching this film, one thing that I did not necessarily care for was the slow-moving plot. It felt as though I had watched the entire movie before any climax or answers started unfolding. While it paid off in the end and left the audience with a major plot twist, I personally would have changed that specific detail.

Overall, this film is nothing short of an amazing thriller that leaves you questioning everyone’s next move. I loved watching a new movie that conveys a woman taking power and disproving other people’s doubts. The screenplay and portrayal from all participating actors were executed to perfection. Each role, costume, set and line of this movie all tie together to create a beautiful, breathtaking film. I highly recommend seeing this movie if you love a mysterious thriller that leaves you wanting a sequel.
