Creative Corner – Sept. 19

Daphne LaGrone is a sophomore Graphic Design major from Rutherford, Tennessee.

LaGrone has always enjoyed art for a number of different reasons.

“I’d say it’s the best form of self-expression and it makes the world a more open and expressive place. Plus, it’s one of the best ways of seeing how values have changed throughout history,” LaGrone said.

“While it can be mostly expressive at times, a lot of technique is involved and I really enjoy having that kind of focus. Plus, it’s a great outlet if I find inspiration anywhere.”

She finds her muse in the creativity of others as well as the world around her in all its beauty and irony.

“I just want to encourage everyone to express their creativity in any way they can,” LaGrone said. “I think having a creative background really helps you think deeper about your surroundings.”

LaGrone is a member of the League of Striving Artists.
