Rebekah Mansfield is a senior Music Education major with an emphasis in voice from White House, Tennessee.
Mansfield grew up in a home where music was prominent. Her dad was a drummer at their church, so she was exposed to music at an early age. She joined choir in the third grade and has been a member of a choir every year since. Being in the choir made her realize that she wanted to pursue a career in music.
“I have always loved the spotlight, and now that I’m a music major I get opportunities to perform in front of real audiences,” Mansfield said. “Performing gives me the chance to show others what I have been working on, which is very exhilarating.”
Mansfield encourages freshmen and others pursuing a career in the fine arts to “never underestimate the work ethic it takes to succeed in the field.” She said that students should really dig deep to find out if they have a passion for music.
Mansfield is also a third year PEP leader for the music department, Vice President of Ritual for Sigma Alpha Iota, a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi, the UTM Collegiate National Association of Music Education and the Women’s Student Alliance.
Mansfield will perform her senior voice recital on Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Blankenship Recital Hall.
