This story was originally released with Woodland’s recital having the wrong date. The correct date is Nov. 11.
Ebonee Woodland is a senior Music Education major from Covington.
At a young age, Woodland sang in her church choir and took piano lessons for a short period of time. Her love for music truly began when she decided to join the middle school beginning band in the sixth grade.
Woodland started out playing the trumpet, but her middle school band director switched her to the trombone because he believed she would be more successful. In addition to playing the trombone, Woodland also plays the alto trombone and the euphonium.
After graduation, Woodland plans to teach in a middle school band program before attending graduate school to earn a master’s degree in Music Education.
“I want to refine my basic skills before I start working with a high school ensemble,” Woodland said.
Woodland is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, the Collegiate National Association for Music Education, Undergraduate Alumni Council, wind ensemble and trombone choir, and is a PEP leader for Music Education.
Woodland will perform her senior trombone recital at 5:30 pm Sunday, Nov. 11 in the Blankenship Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Building.
