Grace Kennedy is a sophomore Music Education major from Union City.
Her passion for music began at a young age when she began to sing in church, which she continues to do to this day.
“My children’s minister is a music teacher and her love of music made me love music just as much,” Kennedy said.
This love of music that she has carried with her is something that she wishes to share with others, which is why she chose to study music education.
“Now that I’m going to school to teach music, I want to give children that same opportunity to fall in love with music like I did.”
For Kennedy, art is a way to positively express emotions. “Whether it be by dance, singing or playing an instrument, the product that you give is built on the feelings and passions that are your own.”
Kennedy is involved with a number of organizations within the music department, such as Aviators Marching Band, Color Guard, Concert Band and the French horn studio. She is also a member of UTM’s chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, an international music fraternity.
