CPAD offers students free photos

UTM’s Office of Career Planning and Development is hosting a “Free Headshot Friday” on the last Friday of every month to help students get professional photos of themselves.

CPAD staff said students must make an appointment for their free photo, which could be used on LinkedIn profiles, other social media, or for interviews and portfolios. They also said about 10-20 students have taken advantage of the new service each time it has been offered.

“I used my photo for a biography picture when I introduced a speaker for my fraternity at our national conference. I believe the photo service is great because it’s something I never thought I needed but have used a lot. I use CPAD all the time for resume help and for reading over my personal statements for graduate school,” said Ashton Sawyers, a Health and Human Performance major.

Sawyers also works in the Student Life Office, across the hall from CPAD on the second floor of the University Center.

Along with Housing and Student Life, CPAD is sponsoring Cookie Cram at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12. It is a first-time event for finals week and will begin in Cooper Hall.

CPAD also sponsors many other events and programs to help students get ready for careers. One of these is Captain’s Closet, a recent idea to help provide free, gently used professional clothing for students. You must schedule a mock interview and resume appointment with CPAD to be eligible for this service.

Other services include career exploration, career readiness, job search tips, internship opportunities, and much more.

For more information, go to www.utm.edu/departments/careers, or call 731-881-7712 to make an appointment for a free professional photo.
