The Office of Career Planning and Development (CPAD) hosted its first Part-Time Job and On-Campus Career Fair on Thursday, Jan. 17, in the UC ballroom.
CPAD listed 15 organizations attending the fair, with some positions being work-study, departmentally funded or off-campus.
UTM’s College of Education, Health and Behavioral Sciences, Office of Business Services, Campus Recreation, Office of Human Resources, Office of Admissions and the UC’s Computer Store were all present and offered on-campus positions.
As for off-campus positions, Carey Counseling Center, Inc., City of Martin, Monograms & More, Sellars Gas and Food, The Grind, West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital, Discovery Park of America, First Friends Preschool and Everett-Stewart Regional Airport were also present at the fair.
Renard Miles, assistant director at CPAD, said that over 90 students attended the fair, with majors ranging from all across the spectrum at UTM.
Prior to Thursday’s fair, CPAD had a table set up from Jan. 15-17, for students to obtain free business-casual attire from Captain’s Closet.
“We were pleased with the number of students who took advantage of the free business clothing prior to the fair,” Miles said. “Students were able to obtain clothing that they can use for a part-time job or internship interview, and we hope the tabling was an opportunity for students to learn that Captain’s Closet is an additional resource that they can use when they need professional attire.”
CPAD is hosting a Career and Internship Fair scheduled for March 21, from 1-4 p.m. in the UC Ballroom. Students can look at the organizations who will be attending by following this link.
