Early Tuesday morning, before 6 a.m., agents from ATF, members of the Jackson SWAT team, Martin Police Department and several other agencies began issuing warrants in Martin and throughout Weakley County.
Martin Police along with state and federal agents from the ATF, FBI, DEA, THP, and TBI served numerous arrest warrants and search warrants on various individuals and locations in the Martin Weakley County area,” according to a press release from MPD.
“The drug operation has been the result of a multi-jurisdictional undercover investigation over the span of approximately two years. Teams of officers hit the ground at approximately 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning and the operation has resulted in the arrest of several individuals believed to be known gang members.”
MPD Capt. Don Teal confirmed that no shots have been fired.
“What everyone heard was the flashbang, which is a diversionary weapon,” Teal said.
Over 100 ATF agents have been in Weakley County this morning.
“The investigation began due to the ever increasing number of drug and gang related incidents which have occurred in the Martin and surrounding area,” the press release read.
