The UTM football stadium was filled with hundreds of girls of different sororities on Sept. 1, who were over-flowing with joy to welcome in their new sisters on Bid Day 2014.

“I love Bid Day and getting to welcome in my sisters. It’s an exciting moment,” Anna Roberts said.

Alpha Omicron Pi received 36 new recruits and their theme was flower power. They accessorized with lots of flowers of all sizes and colors. They also wore flower headbands, tribal painted dots on their faces and made their letters out of flowers. They really took their hippie/flower power theme to the next level. Each new recruit was welcomed in like a true flower child, with flowers having their names painted on them.

Alpha Delta Pi received 46 new recruits and their theme for Bid Day 2014 was Candy Land. They sported bright candy colored hair bows, cupcake shaped name tags and even candy sticks with their letters on them. Each recruit even received their own hand painted lollipop with their name on it.

Chi Omega received 38 new recruits and welcomed each one in with their lifeguard theme. The girls wore lifeguard shirts that read “Just in case we take your breath away.” They accessorized with floats and other pool toys with “Bid Day 2014” or other chants on them. They also personalized different floatation and pool toys with recruits’ names and Chi Omega’s colors. The group definitely looked ready for a great day at the beach.

Lastly, Zeta Tau Alpha received 37 new recruits. Their Bid Day 2014 theme was southern state of mind. They accessorized with daisy headbands, bright colored shirts, wands with their letters on them and lots of face painting, including half-daisies and their letters. They wrote their new recruits’ names on hand painted daisies.

“If the recruits weren’t from the south already; they should feel like it now,” Garrett Cote said.
