The new animated Addams Family debuted in theaters Oct. 11, starring the age old characters of Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester and the whole extended family.
The animated movie sticks to the spooky, creepy and funny style that The Addams Family has always been known for.
There is an added bonus of Cousin It being played by Snoop Dogg, your fair share of puns and seeing Uncle Fester’s “no regerts” tattoo.
Many of the voice actors are widely known, such as Finn Wolfhard as Pugsly, Chloe Moretz as Wednesday and Conrad Vernon as Lurch.
This movie is a cute coming of age story where Pugsley must show he can do the Mazurka, “a party where all your friends and family pass judgement on you, like thanksgiving,” and Uncle Fester and Gomez must help him prove himself to the whole family.
Wednesday tries her hand at joining public school in the town of “Assimilation.” She makes friends and takes down the popular girls with a stream of horrifying pranks. Morticia is very worried about her daughters change in fashion and speech.
All the while, the Addams family must again fight adversity and judgement in this new movie as a TV personality, Margaux Needler, tries to force them to assimilate with the neighborhood by making over their gloriously grim house on the hill.
This movie, like many family movies, has an allegorical factor. It teaches people to go against complete conformity and to be wary of forcing people to fit into stereotypes both at home and in society.
This new Addams Family movie has an excellent mixture of old classic jokes and new generation touches. It is sporting the same old Addams family, but this time they are thrown into the modern age. It is definitely a fantastically frightful family movie for everybody to go see.
