The event was held in the UC ballroom. The panel members included Michael Poke, Aaron Wilkins, Whitney Smith, Shayla Jenai, Aundrea Geornea Williams, Crystal Roach and Trellis Mckinnie.
The panel were asked questions that were based off of their freshmen year and how they now could answer them as upperclassmen. The panel members gave advice in a friendly way and told stories from their own first year of college.
Topics included how to manage refund checks, keeping a good reputation on campus, balancing social lives and school work, handling homesickness, if any, greek life and handling roommates and friends.
Students in the audience also participated with questions and answers about various topics.
“I think this was a very good event. I think everyone always has one of these types of forum each year, but this one was very good as well because the Alphas made sure it was light enough to talk seriously and I think freshmen enjoyed it and took a lot away from it,” said TaNia Moore.
Rashunn Cheney, Tau Psi chapter president, and Brittney Morgan, member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, hosted the event making sure everyone was entertained.
The Tau Psi chapter also gave away two book scholarships totaling two hundred dollars to two freshmen with the help of Bradley’s Bookstore.
“We were just trying to show the freshmen that we did care and that why not share some information about college with them.
“We wanted to show them a different sideof the fraternity than just the social things, but that we do care about everyone on the campus and that we try to help as much as possible,” said Anthony Wilkins, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
