Even in the smallest of towns, there are often tiny details that surprise you, and Martin is no different.
For example, while the University Center is home to many services and organizations, it also acts as a Greyhound Bus stop and is the only Greyhound Bus stop on a college campus in the state of Tennessee.
As UTM is a public campus, it hosts many visitors from various places every day. Its location in Northwest Tennessee, while admittedly off the beaten track, is still in close proximity to a few major thoroughfares, most notably state highways 22 and 45.
The bus stop is open 24-hours a day, seven days a week and can be found on the Greyhound website listed as University Center. Though of course, holiday hours and bus schedules may affect bus availability.
The UC and UTM are not affiliated with Greyhound in any way and thus this location serves only as a pick-up and drop-off stop on the bus line.
Tickets to and from this location can be purchased online and more information about the bus stop can also be found at locations.greyhound.com.
In addition to the UC, stops can also be found in nearby cities such as Union City and Fulton, Kentucky. The University of Southern Indiana also serves as a stop to travelers and is just a short bus ride north from the UTM campus.
Buses are one of the most popular forms of public transportation in the United States and knowing about local stops could make planning a weekend trip easier and less stressful, not to mention less expensive. Having a stop close by makes taking the bus a viable and more accessible option for people across the region.
