The end of school is May 3 and for most, that means summer and distant thoughts of fall football. But the sports season at UTM is not over yet. Several teams will still be competing. Several will still be in championships.
The teams who will be competing after the end of school are baseball, softball, track and field and rodeo.
Baseball’s schedule is the busiest. They compete in a series against Jacksonville State in Martin May 3-5.
In addition, they play another series at Murray State in Murray, Kentucky on May 10-12.
They have a single game against Memphis in Millington, then, they have their final season series against Tennessee Tech in Martin on May 16-18.
After this, they head to their OVC conference baseball championship. The championship is in Marion, Illinois on May 21-26.
Softball also has their OVC following graduation. They will compete on May 8-11 in Oxford, Alabama.
Both men and women’s track and field teams will compete following the end of the semester.
Their first events are at the OVC Outdoor Track Championship in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The event takes place May 9-11.
Two weeks later, both teams head to Jacksonville, Florida for the NCAA East Preliminary Round. That event takes place May 23-25.
Men and women’s track and field completes their season at the NCAA Outdoor National Championship in Austin, Texas on June 3-8.
Rodeo also has one more event. They are competing June 9-15 at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming.
