A total of 11 UTM student-athletes combined for 15 United Equestrian Conference academic team awards, the league announced this afternoon.
Overall, 99 UEC academic teams were awarded today from league institutions Delaware State, Fresno State, SMU, South Dakota State, Sweet Briar College, UC Davis and UT Martin. Fifty-three members made the honor roll list, 20 student-athletes claimed first team status, 13 members earned second team accolades while 13 student-athletes were named honorable mention.
The Skyhawks claimed nine honor roll recipients, as Tess Baumann, Jade Bleskey, Lucy Eier, Sammi Felts, Sydney Lintner, Savannah Metheny, Mackenzie Palmer, Johnie Parker and Devon Woods all cemented a spot on the list. All nine honorees boasted at least a 3.28 Grade Point Average and maintained full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.
Baumann, Eier, Woods and Hannah McDonald each brought home first team accolades for UT Martin. A student-athlete must have competed in a minimum of 70 percent of their school’s meets (not including demo or exhibition rides) and earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.
A pair of Skyhawk representatives in Felts and Noel Meadows also graced the honorable mention listing. To qualify for that status, a student-athlete must have competed in a minimum of 50 percent of their school’s meets (not including demo or exhibition rides), earning a cumulative GPA of 3.0 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.
The conference’s top academic student-athletes were selected by certain criteria for first team, second team and honorable mention. There are no limits on the number of student-athletes who may receive the award while submissions were certified by an institutional official.
